Much as with her first ballet lesson, Juliette's first soccer game was pretty close to a disaster. Following their unusual night last night, she wasn't in the most rested and refreshed state of mind to begin with. Keven took her to the game, and as he told me upon their return, whoever scheduled the fields and start times put two games on the same field. Two teams stayed - with the mini goals - while Juliette's team and their opposition moved to another little field where they intended to use balls as goal markers. Juliette wanted the field with the goals, and she wanted no part in playing. So she and Keven watched the game. Sigh.
We'll try again next week. Keven is going to try and find some time in his schedule to take the girls to a nearby soccer field here in Eagle Heights, so she can at least begin to learn the game, or to a game played by slightly older kids so she can observe the process without being expected to participate. He's been neglecting his soccer dad duties for three years!
So for all of you family types who want to see adorable footage of mini footballers running around, you'll have to give it time... But she did look really cute in her little shin guards and socks!

Wow. I would have thought that would have been Kev's first priority, since he wanted enough kids for a squad. Plus, Juliette's been to see the Crew - though I'll grant you that may not be considered football...
Better luck next time!
And, at the time we saw the Crew, I think my main concern was keeping her 9-mo-old self from crying when the crowd cheered for a goal... Maybe we scarred her!
