Fridays at the Park

On Friday the girls and I went to Wingra Park, which is adjacent to Lake Wingra, one of Madison's four lakes. In summer, our MOMS Club visits a different local park every Friday; when we joined the club last September, they had just stopped for the year so this is a fun and new experience for us. The girls get a kick out of trying a new park every week, and I get the most out of Mapquest.

This particular park had a small, old-fashioned merry-go-round, complete with hot metal handles and pea gravel beneath little feet. How Juliette and Ilsa managed to avoid slipping and falling beneath other running legs throughout the entirety of our visit is a mystery. Ilsa, particularly, is so disaster prone that it seemed a given, but the entire trip proceeded without incident.

We then walked to a nearby over-priced ice cream stand for a very decent (but over-priced hot fudge sundae). Our afternoon of play was topped off by a trip to Aldi, the bank, and the post office. By the time we got home, all that we had time for before bedtime was dinner and a few stories. Then I stayed up way too long IMing Keven and finishing a novel, knowing all the while that I had to get up early the next morning for our planned market day with Jenn and Calvin.
